[#045] My First Billion: a God wink ;-)

A friend introduced me to one of her clients, who wants help with his ads.

The Goal:

More qualified leads, sell out his event, fill his coaching program.

So I did what I always do…
Pulled up his page…
Started watching the video.

And then he said this:

"Jesus didn't just die for us to get to Heaven, He died for us to partner with Him to bring Heaven to Earth."

Then he kept going.

He said Jesus wants our cities fully alive… and for a city to be fully alive, the economic engine of that city has to be fully alive too.

I'm paraphrasing, but that's the gist.

I'm sitting there like, man, that's the same thing I've been teaching at the church.

Moments like these, I call…

God winks.

It's like God saying…

"I see you! Keep going, son. You're on track."

It's like that father in the stands of your basketball game as a child encouraging you.

I never had that, but that's the best analogy I could think of.

And they always come right on time.

Here's where my head went.

I call all of it ministry.

Whether it's ministry in the church, in my family or in the marketplace, it's the same assignment in different packaging.

Most of us were taught to think of the business as the thing that funds the real work.

Pay the bills, give off the top, then go do ministry on Sunday.

But if a city can't come alive until its economic engine comes alive…

Then the people building the engines aren't standing on the sideline of the work…

They are the work.

Which makes the boring stuff holy too.

→ The offer that helps somebody
→ The system that puts you in front of people who need you
→ The follow-up nobody claps for
→ Paying your team well and on time, and caring about them past what they do for you

Even the stuff that we think isn’t working because the results aren’t what we wanted.

None of that is separate from your calling.

That's what your calling looks like with its work clothes on.

And it means staying hidden isn't humility.

If what you carry is good for people, then people not knowing you exist is a problem worth solving.

On a deeper personal note.

Me, Vanessa, and my three youngest kids made a commitment this week.

Dinner at the table together as many times as we can.

Sounds small until you look at how our week is built.

Some nights she's still at the hospital, and the boys and I will just be chillaxin' at the house, eating randomly.

We got two in this week.

Two isn't a highlight reel. But two is more than zero, and it's a number we can look at and grow.

That's how I set goals now.

Find the floor, count the reps, raise it slow.

Also caught my nephew's game.

And I'm back on a stage this Saturday with a brand-new training.

I've been locked in the lab, so I haven't hit someone else's stage in a while.

Then I'm in Dallas in a couple of weeks.

It's a new season.

I've done a lot of healing. Things are getting built different, so the way I show up is different.

It's fun again.

And it's a new month.

118 days left in the year.

That's enough time to change what this year gets called.
