[#024] My First Billion: Q2 Is Open
I've been conscious of my pace this week in a way I haven't always been.
Sleeping in on the days my body needs it.
Resting without guilt and not filling every quiet moment with activity just to feel productive.
There's a version of building that comes from rest, and there's a version that comes from anxiousness.
They can look identical from the outside, but they feel different on the inside and they produce different results over time.
Q1 was about The Purge. Removing everything that doesn’t serve me and the mission
Q2 is about building from rest.
The purge created the space. Now we get to build something worth keeping in it.
Monday we held our Q2 All Hands Meeting with the team.
We do these quarterly as a chance to step back, assess where we are, and align on where we're going.
This one felt different from previous ones.
Leaner team, a clearer avatar and a simpler business felt like standing in a room with better air.
Meetings are for Mondays, so the day continued with:
CFO call after that, same page call with my co-founder, Drae, and a call with the team from another company in our portfolio.
Wrapped up the day with taking Mj, Ro and RyPie to boxing.
Tuesday started with strength training with my health coach, then our Q2 Quarterly Planning Session with our Strategic Scale Advisory Board clients.
We do quarterly planning with our companies and it felt like the right move to bring that same discipline to our clients.
This helps them step out of the day to day and design the next 90 days with intention.
Wellness Wednesday was a little different.
We took the kids, nieces, and nephews to a place called The Balloon Experience.
Full day out of the office, laughing, playing, just being present with the family. And got me a smoothie bowl from my favorite spot.
Those days aren't breaks from the work, they're the reason for it.
I don’t take for granted that I get to be out of the office on a Wednesday.
That’s true wealth!
Then ended the day with taking the boys that evening and got me a session in also.
Thursday was heavy content and asset building.
Shot YouTube videos.
Worked on several things running simultaneously on the business side.
The ads we launched last week for our new front end offer are still being optimized.
Not where we want them yet, but we're building the baseline. That's the process.
Also blowing the dust off some previous assets we had to update and relaunch for some lead gen campaigns that performed well before.
That consisted of updating the emails and messaging to match where we are now.
Sometimes the best move isn't building something new.
It's remembering what already worked and refreshing it for a new season.
Built a new tool this week, too.
A client came to me needing something to audit her marketing system and identify what was missing.
So I built the Complete Marketing System Audit.
A tool that walks you through every layer of your marketing system and shows you where the gaps are.
We're rolling that out soon.
Lastly, we're launching a new front-end event unlike anything we've done before.
Normally, when we do implementation style events we charge around 3k minimum.
This version, we're making the investment laughable because the goal is to help more businesses create a predictable flow of qualified leads.
The big idea is that we launch people's ads live during the event. Not theory or a framework to go home and figure out.
We build and launch it together in the Zoom room. Let me know if you want to join us for the first one.
The team is building out those assets now.
The snowball is rolling.
Saturday, we have Brunch with the Bros and then it’s our family against our Pastor’s family in kickball (we’re getting revenge)...
And Sunday is the final week of my “For The Love of Money” series at church.
More next week.
Tell those you love that you love them.
