[#050] My First Billion: a death in the family

We had a death in the family a couple of weeks ago…

Vanessa’s uncle passed, so this week she had to head to Ohio for the funeral.

This meant I got the opportunity to adjust my schedule and take on a few extra responsibilities at home.

And that's one of the reasons you're getting this 50th edition of the newsletter on Monday instead of Friday.

For 49 editions of My First Billion, I've sent you this every Friday.

This is the first Friday I've "missed."

And despite everything that happened, it was still a really good week.

We welcomed some incredible new clients into the Strategic Scale Advisory Board.

Got some of their ad campaigns live.

I got to attend RoRo's chorus concert after shooting 2 new episodes of the Strategic Scale Show.

And watched MJ play with his school's band at a football game.

And I’m grateful for it, all because this is what I built the business for.

To live a Rich Life!

Not just to make money, speak on stages or acquire more clients…

But to have the freedom and flexibility to adjust when life happens.

Because life doesn't stop just because you have goals…

Family emergencies happen, schedules change, and things don't always go according to plan.

And if your business requires everything to go perfectly for you to have a good week…

You might want to rethink how you're building it.

Now, don't get me wrong…

I love growing businesses and helping entrepreneurs scale…

But I've also learned that there's a big difference between building a successful business and building a business that allows you to live a successful life.

And I want both and believe you can have both, right now.

Oh, and remember that ChatGPT experiment I mentioned last week?

We had to postpone that too.

But it's still coming; more details once I’m back in the states.

By the time you're reading this, I'm 30,000 ft. in the air, headed to a beautiful island to celebrate my 42nd birthday, which is Oct. 16th.

Another trip around the sun.

Another opportunity to reflect on how blessed I am.

And another reminder that the goal was never just to hit another revenue milestone.

It was to create more freedom.

Because the business is supposed to serve your life, not the other way around.

P.S. Here's a question worth asking yourself this week:

If your business doubled in revenue tomorrow but you had less time for the people you love, would you really consider that success?

P.P.S. Whenever you're ready, here are 2 ways we can help you grow your coaching or consulting business 2 or 3x this year:
