[#20] My First Billion: The Snowball Effect

Warren Buffett named his biography, “The Snowball Effect.”

The idea is simple…

Wealth, skill, and reputation don't get built in moments.

They get built by starting small, staying consistent and letting the power of compounding do what compounding does over time.

A snowball doesn't look like much sitting at the top of the hill.

But give it enough hill, enough snow, and enough momentum, and it becomes something nobody can stop.

That's the whole premise of this newsletter.

I'm not here to teach you how to build a billion-dollar portfolio. I've never done it before.

What I'm doing is showing you the snowball…

Week by week, decision by decision, in real time.

You're not reading about someone who already made it. You're watching the snowball form and you’re part of the journey.

And this week, you could feel it picking up speed.

A few weeks ago, I wrote about niching down and committing fully to our ideal client.

Then I wrote about shutting down the sales team and feeling lighter.

Then last week was pure asset building; content, funnels, frameworks, and I shared all of it.

Every one of those weeks was a small consistent action.

None of them looked like much on their own.

But here's what happened this week when the snowball started to pick up momentum.

Sunday I launched a six-week teaching series at church called For the Love of Money.
One of the most controversial topics in and outside the church is money.

Whether it's ungodly to be rich, more pure to be poor, what the Bible actually says about wealth and purpose.

Week one landed. People got impacted in a big way. So did I.

There's something different about teaching something you're living, not just studying.

Monday was a CFO call with Joe, a strategic planning call with the leadership team, Drae, and Bianca…

…and a full event mapping session for the Founder Freedom Workshop kicking off next week.

That's the 3-day live, virtual event built for coaches making 30K to 100K a month who are ready to scale with less team, less stress and less hours.

Had a church leadership call that afternoon about upgrading the media ministry.

Tuesday was strength training with my health coach. The consistency is showing.

Then, coaching calls with clients and Day 1 of the One-to-Many Seller Summit with my partner Adrian.

Went great, gotta data to analyze to iterate going forward.

That evening picked up my son from school and headed to a parent meeting for his D.C. field trip.

Wednesday was Day 2 of the summit, but before I started it…

I had breakfast with Vanessa. We were supposed to meet with someone about building out our real estate portfolio, but had to adjust that.

We had breakfast, but didn't get through our weekly sync and our question prompts.

We bumped heads a little this week, and I gave her and myself the space to work through it. That's part of it. Marriage isn't a highlight reel either.

Went to boxing that evening with my boys.

Thursday, second strength training session, fresh cut to get right for the client only bootcamp this weekend…

VIP day for the One-to-Many Seller Summit, two solid podcast interviews back to back.

One of those might turn into a partnership.

Chris finalized ad assets we're rolling out next week.

Had two YouTube videos scheduled that didn't get shot; it was already pass 5:00 and I've learned not to force anything.

I'll knock those out Monday morning before the event kicks off.

By the time this hits your inbox I'll be running our client-only Strategic Scale Bootcamp.

37 clients flying in from all over the country for two full days of deep work.

Friday, I'm laying out the Freedom Code™, which maps the entire journey to hit your wealth target…

…so your ideal lifestyle is funded, whether you shut your business down or not.

And I'm rolling out something brand new I built this week called the Freedom Calculator™.

It compliments the Freedom Code™ and maps out the exact passive income number someone needs to cover their ideal lifestyle…

…what that requires from an investment standpoint, and the exact year they'll hit it following the plan.

This eliminates chasing arbitrary revenue goals.

Had a few people test it this week and the reactions told me everything I needed to know.

The first time it goes public is at the bootcamp this weekend.

Saturday, I'm introducing something called the Direct Response Content Machine…

A system for producing content that does actual sales work, not just visibility work.
First time it goes public is at the bootcamp this weekend.

That's what the snowball looks like in motion.

The personal side of the snowball:

Read another Dr. Seuss book with RyPie this week. Six years old and everything is still magic to him, and I embrace and protect all the moments.

Yesterday my G-Son spent the night and when saw me come downstairs, he yelled…

“G-Pa” and ran and gave me a big hug!

I'm building a billion-dollar portfolio. But that is the real return on investment.

Crushed my calorie targets this week. Got my walks in. Flushed out next week's content and emails.

Going into the weekend as prepared and excited to be used by God.

Two days of teaching clients and then week 2 of the For The Love of Money Series at church.

Then date night with my wife and pastors for a comedy show.

This isn't the peak of the snowball. Not even close.

But if you've been reading since issue one, you can feel it picking up speed.

That's the whole point of showing up every Friday and documenting this.

Not to teach you and not to impress you.

Just to show you what a snowball looks like while it's still rolling.

More next week.

Tell those you love, that you love them.
